Excellence and Equity in Education
Dear Crossroads families,
Crossroads is a special place and it is my pleasure to serve as principal. Previously, I was principal at Valleywood Middle School for six years. Before that, I was an assistant principal and middle school teacher for Ridge Park Academy and Knapp Academy.
This year is going to be exceptional. We are continuing the redesign we began prior to Ian’s retirement and the entire staff is excited about it. We will continue our commitment to doing school differently. We are transitioning into a competency-based education and career pathways model where the majority of students’ educational experiences will focus on employability. In addition to that, we are continuing our Workforce Friday initiative. We strive for all of our graduating students to leave with an industry recognized certification.
Our staff has a passion for Crossroads. We work hard for all students and pride ourselves in supporting students who desire extra support while they work toward graduation. Crossroads provides a safe, positive, and respectful environment designed to help students achieve their goals. Crossroads staff remains committed to building relationships with students and fostering a sense of belonging. The culture of engagement at Crossroads remains focused on meeting every student where they are and getting them what they need.
If you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out to the staff at Crossroads.
Sincerely,
J. Mathes
