Our students' mental health is as important to us as their educational experience. As a society we are seeing an increase in youth mental health diagnoses and suicide. Here at Kentwood we provide many resources for students during the school day to provide them with quality mental health care. In addition to the counseling and Social Emotional Learning staff at schools, we offer provide access to outside resources:
The goal of KSSN is to eliminate barriers for students to actively participate in their education experience. This can include housing, food, clothing, health services, and after school programming.
Kentwood houses licensed clinical staff that can provide individual and group therapy for students. The goal of DAB is to help children and empower families by providing safety, advocacy, and support.
The EK Freshman Campus and 10-12 building offer telehealth counseling services to students that are in need, during the school day.
Kentwood has partnered with Catherine’s Health Center School Behavioral Health Program and services may include behavioral and mental health assessment, treatment, individual therapy, and group therapy.
Students that receive counseling services at school typically visit with their counselor on a weekly basis, depending on their needs. Sessions occur during the school day and are focused on developing goals, overcoming obstacles, and identifying coping strategies. Since these services are offered at school, the counselors have the ability to coordinate with teachers and other school staff.
