KIDS Program

K.I.D.S Program

Kentwood Public Schools is proud to offer the Kentwood Inner District Sports (KIDS) program, established in 2000. KIDS provides a structured opportunity for young learners to develop their fundamental athletic skills and explore a variety of sports in a supportive environment. It also provides additional opportunities for hands-on academic learning in programs that support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) learning. Through the program, participants benefit from instruction by qualified KPS athletic and academic staff and gain exposure to mentorship from current Kentwood students and student-athletes. The KIDS program cultivates a love of sportsmanship and collaborative learning and a commitment to healthy living within the Kentwood community.

In addition to gaining athletic skills and new academic knowledge, participation in the KIDS program also helps students develop characteristics that will benefit them in many ways:

  • Resiliency
  • Problem-solving
  • Creativity
  • Collaboration
  • Communication
  • Motivation
  • Self-confidence
