East Kentwood High School - School-to-Careers Program - Career Cruising
Kentwood Public Schools is pleased to offer a dynamic new online program, Career Cruising, to all students in grades 6-12. It provides comprehensive career exploration and planning tools along with a powerful program for creating an EDP (Educational Development Plan).
What is an EDP?
An EDP is a plan that students create to show their interests, abilities, high school courses, career possibilities, post-high school education options, and long or short term goals. The purpose of the EDP process is to help students think about their future, determine their focus, and develop a plan for achieving personal goals.
Career Cruising provides the resources and tools for thinking about all of these areas and it automatically creates an EDP as students work with the program. Students begin their EDP in either 8th or 9th grade and update it every year through 12th grade (required by federal law). Step-by-step instructions for completing each area of the EDP are provided on the EDP Guide for each grade. Students can use this step-by-step guide at school and/or at home.
You can learn more about EDPs at the Michigan Government site.
