High school students can get passwords for three different Kaplan online resources from the School-To-Careers Office:

· ACT/SAT/PSAT Test Prep
· College Planning
· MEAP Test Prep

These resources can be accessed at home, as well as at school. For the test prep programs, students take a practice test; then work on problems that are specifically chosen to strengthen student performance in areas that need improvement. The Guidance Department offers several ACT prep workshops for students throughout the school year (see below). More information about the ACT is also available at http://www.act.org.

ACT Preparation Workshop

Call: 698-6700 and ask for the Counseling Office

The ACT Preparation Workshop will help you prepare to successfully take the test by:

showing you exactly what the format of the test is and the kinds of questions to expect for each of the sections of the test
teaching you specific strategies for dealing with each section of the test
letting you practice through mini-tests over each of the sections
giving you ideas about the necessity for pacing yourself as well as when and how to guess at an answer
giving you a complete practice test and answer key

The best method for scoring well on the ACT and replacing anxiety with confidence is to be knowledgeable and well-prepared. This workshop is for students taking the ACT during the remainder of the calendar year, and includes information and strategies for the new essay portion of the ACT. Bring a CALCULATOR and a WATCH WITH A SECOND HAND. A manual is provided to each participant.
