What The Boosters Do

Make and Spend Money

It's simple, the boosters job is to raise funds to be used to support East Kentwood Athletic programs at all levels. The Boosters accomplish this by managing operations of Concessions, Spirit Store and Athletic Programs and by hosting fundraising events. Each Booster participates in or runs a committee that is responsible for overseeing the operations of all Booster events and fundraising opportunities. Volunteers help accomplish committee goals.

Every summer the Boosters and administrators set goals for what they wish to accomplish in the upcoming year. It takes a tremendous amount of time and effort by the Boosters and volunteers to accomplish these goals. The Boosters always need volunteers and new ideas. If you are interested in participating simply complete the Volunteer Form.pdf and deliver to the address at the bottom of this screen, bring it to the next Booster General Membership meeting or contact any Booster for more information. The success of our EK Athletic programs and the Boosters is truly a community effort.

Raising Funds

  • Concessions Operations - EK Food Services now manages concessions operations utilizing parent volunteers to staff the concession areas during athletic events. Volunteers set up and run stands, grill/serve food, and clean up/close the stand at the end of the event. Volunteering to work concessions provides an excellent opportunity for our athletic teams and parents to get involved and make a little money for their teams. Why volunteer for concessions?
  • Athletic Programs - Each year the Boosters oversee, produce and sell Fall, Winter and Spring programs for EK athletics. You can contribute by simply purchasing an Athletic Program at any one of our athletic events or better yet become a Sponsor of EK Athletics by purchasing advertising space in the program for your business.
  • Spirit Store - The boosters oversee the operations of the Spirit store. They order, maintain inventory, and man the Spirit stores in the Field House, Falcon Stadium and Pat Patterson Field.
  • Brick Sales - The Boosters oversee the sale and placement of the personalized and engraved bricks you see at Falcon Stadium. Want to be immortalized and contribute to EK Athletics at the same time? It’s easy. Purchase a 4 x 8 brick from the Boosters and the Kentwood community and visitors will have a chance to “walk all over you”.
  • Become a Patron - Patrons show their support for EK Athletics and the boosters simply by making a yearly one time cash donation to the Boosters. Patrons get their names listed in the Athletic Programs and on this website.
  • Love A Falcon Night - The Love A Falcon Night is a yearly fundraising event held in November. It is a night of Gambling, Dancing and eating all in good fun. Mark your calendar now so you don't miss it. You can help by simply attending or you can volunteer to work the event, we allways need help.

Using The Funds Raised

All funds raised go into a general fund which is used to support EK athletics. KAB works with school administrators, athletic department and coaches to ensure and/or assist all teams in receiving the resources they need to be successful including the purchase of equipment and providing enhancements to basic uniform needs.

Athletic Awards

Kentwood Athletic Boosters

KAB plans, organizes and administers Award Programs at the end of each school year. KAB pays for all individual student pictures and awards given to EK student athletes whether they win individual or team recognition. The Boosters pay for the plaques and pictures displayed in the school and the award banners that hang in the Field House.

Managed Team Accounts

KAB provides opportunities for parents to get involved simply by attending KAB meetings. Just send a representative from your team to 8 consecutive KAB meetings. After the 8th consecutive meeting $200 will be placed into your teams managed account. All money earned by attending General Membership Meetings and working concessions goes into these managed accounts.

Scholarships

Each year, the EKHS Athletic Booster organization awards 4 $300 Scholarships awarded to seniors who have exceeded academic, sportsmanship and leadership standards. Application forms are made available around Spring Break in the High School and on this website. Scholarship winners are chosen by a volunteer committee of KPS staff and KAB members. Winners will be announced at the Awards Banquet in May. Application forms will be made available from the Athletic Office and this website just after Spring break.
